The Blackmagic URSA Mini Pro 12K OLPF is equipped with a Super 35 sensor measuring 27.03mm x 14.25mm, delivering exceptional cinematic quality with up to 14 stops of dynamic range. It comes with a PL lens mount pre-installed, while optional EF and F mounts allow flexibility across lens ecosystems. The camera supports lens control via a 12-pin broadcast connector as well as electronic control through EF mount pins when using the optional EF lens mount.

It offers a wide variety of shooting resolutions, including 12K DCI (12,288 x 6480), 12K 16:9 (11,520 x 6480), 12K 2.4:1 (12,288 x 5112), and 12K anamorphic (7680 x 6408). Additional resolutions include 8K, 6K Super16, and 4K formats, providing unmatched versatility for both feature films and broadcast productions.

Frame Rates and High-Speed Recording

The URSA Mini Pro 12K OLPF supports project frame rates of 23.98, 24, 25, 29.97, 30, 50, 59.94, and 60 fps, with maximum sensor frame rates varying by resolution. It achieves 12K full sensor recording up to 60 fps, 12K 2.4:1 up to 75 fps, and 8K or 4K DCI up to 120 fps. For ultra-high-speed capture, 4K Super16 mode supports up to 240 fps, making the camera ideal for slow-motion cinematography.

Optical and Control Features

The camera features a four-position ND filter wheel with clear, 2-stop, 4-stop, and 6-stop IR ND filters. Autofocus is supported through a dedicated focus button and touchscreen focus region selection when using compatible lenses. Iris adjustments are available via a physical iris wheel, touchscreen slider, and instant auto iris button, with scene average auto exposure supported in video mode.

A 4-inch LCD capacitive touchscreen provides control and monitoring, while metadata is automatically populated from compatible PL lenses via i/Technology or from EF lenses when using the optional EF mount. Three assignable shortcut keys, along with traditional push buttons, give quick access to critical settings.

Connections

The URSA Mini Pro 12K OLPF offers 1 x 12G-SDI input, 1 x 12G-SDI output, and 1 x 3G-SDI monitoring output, with full support for 1.5G, 3G, 6G, and 12G SDI rates. For audio, the camera provides 2 x XLR inputs switchable between mic, line, and AES, with phantom power support, as well as a 3.5mm headphone jack that also supports iPhone-compatible headsets for talkback. Reference inputs include Tri-Sync, Black Burst, and Timecode, while control options include LANC, USB-C, Bluetooth, and the Blackmagic SDI Camera Control Protocol.

Audio and Monitoring

The camera incorporates a stereo microphone for ambient sound capture and a mono speaker for playback. Monitoring standards include HD video up to 1080p60 (progressive and interlaced) and Ultra HD up to 2160p60, fully compliant with SMPTE 292M, 424, 2081-1, and 2082-1 standards. Audio is sampled at 48kHz/24-bit for professional-grade recording.

Media and Recording

For storage, the URSA Mini Pro 12K OLPF includes dual CFast 2.0 card slots, dual SD UHS-II slots, and a USB-C 3.1 Gen 2 expansion port with power delivery for external media. It also supports 2.5” U.2 NVMe or SATA SSDs with the optional URSA Mini Recorder. Media can be formatted in ExFAT or HFS+ file systems.

Recording is handled in Blackmagic RAW, offering multiple constant bitrate options (5:1, 8:1, 12:1, 18:1) and constant quality modes (Q0, Q1, Q3, Q5). Depending on resolution and codec, storage rates range from as high as 1,618 MB/s in 4K Super16 at 240 fps Q0 to as low as 25 MB/s in 6K Q5 mode. The camera supports metadata embedding, custom 3D LUTs, and multiple gamma profiles, ensuring maximum flexibility in post-production.

Control, Talkback, and Tally

External control is supported through iPad apps, Bluetooth, LANC, and Blackmagic SDI Camera Control Protocol, allowing remote operation of key settings. The camera integrates talkback functionality over SDI Channels 15/16 and supports iPhone-compatible headsets for two-way communication. A tally indicator system is available on the LCD, URSA Viewfinder, and URSA Studio Viewfinder for live production workflows.

Software and Compatibility

The URSA Mini Pro 12K OLPF runs on Blackmagic OS, offering intuitive controls and full integration with DaVinci Resolve Studio, which is included with the camera. Additional tools such as Blackmagic RAW Player, RAW QuickLook Plugin, RAW SDK, Camera Setup Utility, and RAW Speed Test are also provided. The camera is compatible with macOS Ventura 13.0, Sonoma 14.0 or later, and Windows 10/11.

Power Requirements

The camera can be powered via an external 12V power supply, a 4-pin XLR input, or a 12-pin Molex connector on the rear battery plate. It is compatible with V-mount and Gold mount battery plates, providing flexibility for studio or field use. Optional power accessories, such as the URSA VLock and Gold battery plates, are available.
