UltraStudio Recorder 3G technical specifications

Connections
UltraStudio Recorder 3G includes a single 10-bit SD/HD switchable SDI video input and supports SDI rates of 270Mb, 1.5G, and 3G. It features embedded SDI audio input with up to 16 channels in both SD and HD formats. For HDMI input, the device includes one HDMI 2.0 Type A connector, which supports 8 channels of embedded audio. The computer interface is via Thunderbolt™ 3, making it compatible with macOS, Windows, and Linux systems.

Supported Codecs
This device supports a wide range of popular codecs including AVC-Intra, AVCHD, Canon XF MPEG2, Digital SLR formats, DV-NTSC, DV-PAL, DVCPRO50, DVCPROHD, DPX, HDV, HEVC, XDCAM EX, XDCAM HD, XDCAM HD422, DNxHD, DNxHR, Apple ProRes (422 HQ, 422, 422 LT, 422 Proxy, and 4444), as well as uncompressed 8-bit and 10-bit 4:2:2 and 10-bit 4:4:4 video.

Software
The UltraStudio Recorder 3G comes with essential software tools including Media Express, Disk Speed Test, LiveKey, and the Blackmagic Desktop Video Utility. Software drivers are included for macOS, Windows, and Linux. Firmware upgrades are managed via the software driver and load automatically at system start or through the updater tool.

Software Applications
This device is compatible with numerous professional software applications such as Wirecast, vMix, OBS Studio, Cinegy Capture Pro, DevTek EasyMediaSuite, Glookast Capturer, Metus Ingest, Softron MovieRecorder, ToolsOnAir just:in, Burst Video WebClip2Go, [REC]Marker, and Zoom. As these are third-party tools, functionality may vary by vendor.

SDI Video Standards
Supported SD video formats include 525i59.94 NTSC and 625i50 PAL. HD formats range from 720p (50, 59.94, 60) to 1080p (23.98, 24, 25, 29.97, 30, 50, 59.94, 60), 1080PsF (23.98, 24, 25, 29.97, 30), and interlaced 1080i (50, 59.94, 60). 2K DCI formats are supported at p and PsF frame rates from 23.98 to 60 fps.

SDI Compliance and Audio/Video Specs
UltraStudio Recorder 3G complies with SMPTE standards including 259M, 274M, 296M, 424M, and 425M A/B. It supports RP 188/SMPTE 12M-2 metadata and closed captioning. Audio sampling adheres to the 48 kHz, 24-bit television standard. Video sampling is supported at both 4:2:2 and 4:4:4 with color precision ranging from 8 to 12 bits RGB and 8 to 10 bits YUV. Supported color spaces include REC 601, REC 709, and REC 2020.

Multiple Rate Support
The SDI input supports both standard definition and high definition switching, allowing for flexible usage across different broadcast requirements.

HDMI Video Standards
Supported HDMI video standards include SD (525i59.94 NTSC, 625i50 PAL), HD (720p50/59.94/60, 1080p from 23.98 to 60 fps), and 1080i (50, 59.94, 60). Copy Protection Notice
The HDMI input cannot capture content from copy-protected HDMI sources. Users must ensure they own the rights to any content captured or distributed using this device.

Hardware Frame Buffer
UltraStudio Recorder 3G supports a variety of frame buffer formats including v210 (10-bit YUV), 2vuy (8-bit YUV), ARGB, BGRA (8-bit RGB), r210 (10-bit RGB), and 12-bit RGB formats R12B and R12L.

Processing
Hardware-based real-time color space conversion ensures optimal performance and compatibility with professional workflows.
