Connections

The Teranex Mini HDMI to Optical 12G features versatile connectivity options, including an optional 3G/6G/12G Optical SFP input and a single 12G-SDI output. It supports one HDMI 2.0 type A input connector with resolutions up to 2160p60. For optical fiber, there is an optional 3G/6G/12G Optical SFP output that automatically matches the SD, HD, and 12G-SDI HDMI video input. Audio connectivity includes two channels of professional balanced analog audio via XLR connectors, with the right XLR configurable for timecode input, and four channels of professional 110Ω balanced digital audio via XLR connectors, with the right XLR also configurable for timecode input. Embedded audio support allows for up to 16 channels.

Multi-Rate Support and Configuration

The device offers automatic switching between SD, HD, 2K, and 4K video formats. Updates and configuration are handled via USB and Ethernet, with reclocking provided for signal integrity. Control can be performed through mini switches, USB, and Ethernet using the free software utility, or optionally via a front-mounted Smart Panel with an LCD, rotary knob, and six settings buttons.

Compliance and Video Performance

The unit complies with SMPTE 259M, SMPTE 292M, SMPTE 296M, SMPTE 297M for Optical Fiber SDI, SMPTE 372M, SMPTE 424M, SMPTE 2081-1, SMPTE 2081-10, SMPTE 2082-1, and SMPTE 2082-10 standards. Video connections are switchable between standard definition, high definition (level A and B 3G-SDI), 6G-SDI, and 12G-SDI. It supports SDI video sampling in both 4:2:2 and 4:4:4 formats, with television-standard 48 kHz and 24-bit audio sampling. SDI color precision includes YUV 4:2:2 and RGB 4:4:4 for HD, 2K, and 4K formats, while color spaces supported include REC 601 and REC 709.

HDMI Input Standards

HDMI input supports the same SD, HD, Ultra HD, and 4K video standards as the optical output, with color spaces REC 601 and REC 709. The HDMI input cannot capture from copy-protected sources, and copyright compliance must always be ensured before content capture or distribution.

Software and Control

Software control is available via Mac™ and Windows™ applications for firmware upgrades and settings adjustments through USB or Ethernet. The device includes internal software upgrade capability via the supplied updater application.

Power Requirements

The Teranex Mini HDMI to Optical 12G includes a built-in international AC power supply with an IEC C14 inlet, supporting 100-240V AC input. Power can also be supplied via 48V DC using PoE+ (Power over Ethernet). The unit consumes 16 watts of power and operates within a voltage range of 100-240V AC.

Environmental Specifications
