The Mini Converter UpDownCross HD features one SD, HD, or 3G-SDI video input along with one external reference input for synchronization. It also includes an HDMI type-A input for direct HDMI source connections. For outputs, it offers one SDI loop out and two SDI outputs, as well as a single HDMI type-A output, which supports EDID from the connected display.
Signal Rates and Reference Support
The converter supports SDI rates of 270Mb, 1.5G, and 3G. Reference inputs accept both black burst and tri-level sync for SD and HD formats, ensuring precise signal alignment. The device automatically detects whether the incoming SDI signal is standard definition, high definition, or 3G-SDI.
Video Standards Compatibility
For SD, supported formats include 525i59.94 NTSC and 625i50 PAL. In HD, the unit supports 720p (50, 59.94, 60 fps), 1080p (23.98, 24, 25, 29.97, 30, 50, 59.94, 60 fps), 1080PsF (23.98, 24, 25, 29.97, 30 fps), and 1080i (50, 59.94, 60 fps). HDMI inputs accept the same range of HD formats.
SDI Compliance and Video Quality
This converter is compliant with SMPTE 259M, 292M, 296M, 372M, 424M Level B, 425M Level B, ITU-R BT.656, and ITU-R BT.601 standards. It supports 4:2:2 video sampling, 48kHz/24-bit audio sampling, and a YUV color space for professional-grade quality. Timecode and closed captioning metadata are also supported.
Format and Scaling Capabilities
The unit can convert any SD or HD input to a wide variety of formats, including 720p (50, 59.94, 60 fps), 1080p (23.98, 24, 25, 29.97, 30, 50, 59.94, 60 fps), and 1080i (50, 59.94, 60 fps). It also supports computer scaling for DVI resolutions of 640x480, 800x600, and 1024x768 to broadcast standards in both SD and HD.

The converter’s firmware can be updated using the included updater application via USB. Control settings are managed through onboard mini switches. The device is compatible with macOS (10.15 Catalina and 11.1 Big Sur or later) and Windows 10 (64-bit).
