Connections

The Blackmagic Cloud Pod comes equipped with a 10G Ethernet port that supports 100/1000/10G BASE-T speeds, ensuring ultra-fast file access and data sharing across networks. For external storage connectivity, it features 2 USB-C 3.0 ports (up to 5Gb/s), allowing you to connect and share your own USB drives. An HDMI output is also available for monitoring the device’s system status and performance in real time.

Computer Interface

Configuration and software updates can be performed via Ethernet or USB-C. The Ethernet interface is also used for shared file access, allowing up to 50 simultaneous computer connections.

File Sharing and Cloud Sync

The device uses the SMB protocol for file sharing, enabling seamless integration across Windows and macOS systems. It also supports cloud synchronization via Blackmagic Cloud and Amazon Web Services S3, allowing you to keep files in sync with remote servers and collaborators around the world.

Storage

The Cloud Pod does not include built-in storage; instead, it supports a bring-your-own-drive model. It accepts USB disks formatted in ExFAT (Windows/Mac) or HFS+ (Mac), giving users flexibility with drive formatting and compatibility.

Displays and Monitoring

The HDMI output supports 1080p50, 1080p59.94, and 1080p60 standards and provides a comprehensive system overview. On-screen displays include device name, storage capacity and usage, cloud sync status, user activity, hardware diagnostics, a storage map, and real-time network data rate graphs. A glow strip on the device also acts as a status indicator, turning red during read/write operations.

Device Control and Software

Device control and configuration can be handled via USB-C or Ethernet. Included software tools are the Blackmagic Cloud Setup Utility and Blackmagic Proxy Generator Lite. Firmware updates are managed through the setup utility via USB-C connection.

The Cloud Pod is compatible with:

Power Requirements

The unit includes an external 12V DC 60W power supply and connects via a locking 5.5mm barrel connector. Power consumption is rated at 25W without external USB drives connected.
