Connections & Interfaces

The Blackmagic Cloud Dock 4 features four removable and hot-swappable 2.5-inch U.2 SSD or SATA drive bays, each supporting a maximum SSD height of 11mm. For high-speed networking, it includes four 10G BASE-T Ethernet ports, enabling rapid file sharing and simultaneous access for multiple users. In addition, a USB 3.0 (up to 5Gb/s) port is provided, which supports Ethernet over USB functionality for added flexibility. A single HDMI monitor output enables real-time system monitoring on external displays.

Computer Interface & File Sharing

This device supports USB-C or Ethernet connections for shared file access, configuration, and software updates. It utilizes the SMB protocol for seamless file sharing and supports up to 200 simultaneous computer connections, making it ideal for large workgroups and studios.

Cloud Synchronization

The Cloud Dock 4 supports Amazon Web Services S3 synchronization, allowing users to automatically sync their content with cloud-based storage services. It is fully integrated with Blackmagic Cloud, enabling global collaboration through efficient file distribution and access across locations.

Storage Compatibility

Designed with a “bring your own drive” approach, users can install their own SATA or U.2 SSDs. The Cloud Dock 4 supports ExFAT (Windows/Mac) and HFS+ (Mac) file systems, providing flexibility and compatibility with various workflows.

Display & Monitoring

The HDMI output supports video standards including 1080p50, 1080p59.94, and 1080p60, and delivers real-time monitoring of system status. Displayed information includes device name, drive usage and capacity, cloud sync status, user activity, hardware health, storage map, and live network data rate graphs. Additionally, LED bezel indicator lights around the SSD slots provide visual confirmation of drive activity and health.

Device Control & Software

Configuration and software updates can be performed via USB-C or Ethernet. Included software utilities are the Blackmagic Cloud Setup Utility and Blackmagic Proxy Generator Lite. Firmware updates are managed internally through the setup utility.

Operating System Compatibility

The Cloud Dock 4 is compatible with Mac OS 14.3 Sonoma or later, as well as Windows 10 (64-bit) and Windows 11, ensuring wide OS support for professional environments.

Power Requirements

It features a built-in 100–240V AC power supply (50/60Hz) with an IEC C14 mains input. The device consumes approximately 60W of power without any SSDs installed.

Environmental Specifications

The device is engineered for reliability in professional settings. It supports an operating temperature range of 0°C to 40°C (32°F to 104°F) and a storage temperature range of -20°C to 60°C (-4°F to 140°F). Relative humidity tolerance is 0% to 90% non-condensing, ensuring dependable performance under varied conditions.
