The ATEM SDI comes equipped with 4 total video inputs, 3 outputs, and 2 auxiliary outputs, making it a versatile solution for professional live productions. It supports 2 x 3.5mm stereo mini jack audio inputs, with no dedicated audio outputs since all audio is embedded. For SDI connectivity, the switcher features 4 x 3G-SDI inputs, each capable of 10-bit HD video with 2-channel embedded audio. Video input re-synchronization and frame rate/format converters are available on all SDI inputs, ensuring seamless integration across different sources. The device also provides 2 SDI program outputs for flexible monitoring and routing.

In terms of connectivity, the ATEM SDI supports Ethernet 10/100/1000 BaseT for software control, updates, and panel connections. A USB Type-C 2.0 port is included for webcam output, software control, and firmware updates, making integration with computers straightforward.

For video standards, the ATEM SDI supports a wide range of HD input and output formats, including 720p50/59.94/60, 1080p23.98 through 1080p60, and 1080i50/59.94/60. Video streaming standards are also supported up to 1080p60. While there is no Ultra HD support, the system offers 10-bit 4:2:2 YUV video sampling, Rec. 709 color space, and real-time hardware-based colorspace conversion, delivering high-quality visuals with accuracy.

The switcher includes advanced keying features with 1 upstream keyer, 1 downstream keyer, and 1 advanced chroma keyer, along with 2 linear/luma keyers and a DVE-based transition keyer. It supports up to 5 total layers, with 1 pattern generator, 2 color generators, and a DVE complete with borders and drop shadows.

For audio, the ATEM SDI integrates a 6-input x 2-channel Fairlight audio mixer, with selectable on/off, audio-follow-video, and independent gain control per channel. It also includes compressor, gate, limiter, and 6-band parametric EQ for professional audio shaping. The two 3.5mm stereo inputs provide unbalanced analog stereo, support plugin power for microphones, and include adjustable delay of up to 8 frames for synchronization.

The internal media player supports fill and key channels and can store up to 20 still images in formats such as PNG, TGA, BMP, GIF, JPEG, and TIFF.

Control options are extensive, with a built-in panel, optional hardware panels, and free ATEM Software Control for Mac and Windows. The ATEM SDI is compatible with ATEM Micro Panel, ATEM Advanced Panels (1 M/E, 2 M/E, 4 M/E), ATEM Camera Control Panel, and Micro Camera Panel. It also integrates with Blackmagic Videohub hardware panels for source routing.

Software updates and configurations can be performed via USB or Ethernet, with the ATEM Setup Utility provided for IP configuration and chassis setup. The switcher is compatible with Mac 14.0 Sonoma and Mac 15.0 Sequoia or later, as well as Windows 10 and 11.

Power requirements include an external 12V power supply (included with international adapters), with a maximum power usage of 18W. The unit operates in temperatures between 5° to 40° C and can be stored between -10° to 60° C, with a relative humidity tolerance of 0% to 90% non-condensing.

The ATEM SDI package includes the switcher itself along with an external 12V DC power supply and international socket adapters. It is backed by a 1-year limited manufacturer’s warranty.
