The ATEM Mini Extreme ISO offers a total of 9 video inputs, including 8 HDMI Type-A inputs with 10-bit HD switching and embedded 2-channel audio, along with one dedicated input. It provides 4 total outputs and 4 auxiliary outputs, ensuring flexible routing options. For video, the device supports 3 HDMI video outputs, with all of them also functioning as HDMI program outputs. The system is equipped with a 6.35mm headphone output, 2 XLR combo audio inputs with phantom power, and 1 BNC connection supporting 32-channel MADI digital audio. Additional connectivity includes two USB-C outputs for webcam video at 720p or 1080p, plus Ethernet ports (1G for streaming/control and 10G for recording). A Thunderbolt interface is also available for fill/key video out, video input, Ethernet to storage, and power delivery.

Standards and Formats

This switcher supports a wide range of HD video input standards, including 720p50, 720p59.94, 720p60, 1080p from 23.98 up to 60fps, and interlaced formats like 1080i50, 1080i59.94, and 1080i60. Output standards include full HD 1080p at frame rates ranging from 23.98fps up to 60fps. Streaming standards are also supported up to 1080p60. The unit processes video in 4:2:2 YUV sampling with 10-bit precision in the Rec.709 color space. HDMI inputs support computer resolutions from 1280 × 720p at 50–60Hz and 1920 × 1080p or 1080i at multiple refresh rates. Real-time hardware-based color space conversion ensures seamless input handling.

Switcher and Control Features

The ATEM Mini Extreme ISO includes 1 mix effects row with 10 direct cross points using professional NKK buttons. It offers 8 key buttons, 6 auxiliary buttons, and 6 DSK transition selectors, along with dedicated buttons for macros, streaming, recording, and fade-to-black transitions. A single fader bar provides manual control. Keying capabilities include 4 upstream keyers, 2 downstream keyers, up to 4 advanced chroma keyers, and 2 DVEs. The device also features 1 SuperSource, linear/luma keyers, and 2 color generators. With support for 16 routable windows, the tally system provides red program and green preview indications.

Audio Capabilities

The switcher features a 26-input, 2-channel audio mixer, handling signals from HDMI, MADI, XLR, and Thunderbolt inputs. Each channel includes On/Off/Audio-Follow-Video options with independent gain control, plus level and peak metering. The built-in Fairlight audio engine adds professional processing tools such as compressor, gate, limiter, and 6-band parametric EQ. The system also supports phantom power (+48V) on XLR inputs, analog stereo input, and an analog input delay of up to 8 frames. Audio recording is captured as separate 24-bit 48kHz .wav files.

Streaming and Recording

The ATEM Mini Extreme ISO supports direct streaming using RTMP and SRT protocols over Ethernet or via a shared USB-C internet connection. It accommodates up to 8 streaming sources and maps them through the ATEM Software Control. For recording, it provides direct video and audio capture via CFExpress, USB-C drives, or network recording. Video can be recorded from all 8 HDMI ISO inputs as H.264 .mp4 files at up to 70Mb/s with AAC audio, along with a program output recording. Audio is captured from up to 26 channels. Switching sessions can be exported as a DaVinci Resolve project file (.drp) for professional editing.

Monitoring and Media

The unit supports multi-view monitoring, configurable for 16, 13, 10, 7, or 4-view layouts. Displays can include Program, Preview, HDMI inputs, SuperSource, Clean Feed, Media Player, Streaming/Recording status, and Audio Meters. Two media players are included, supporting fill and key channels. The media pool stores 20 still images (PNG, TGA, BMP, GIF, JPEG, TIFF) and up to 200 frames of HD video. Audio playback supports WAV, MP3, and AIFF formats, while video file sequences can be imported as TGA.

Processing and Camera Control

The system includes a 58-channel audio mixer with advanced EQ and dynamics tools. When paired with Blackmagic Design cameras, ATEM Mini Extreme ISO offers remote control of focus, iris, zoom, color correction, ND filters, tally, and record start/stop functions. This integration enhances live production workflows with full camera-to-switcher synchronization.

Software and Compatibility

The switcher comes with the ATEM Software Control Panel for both macOS (14.0 Sonoma and later) and Windows (10/11). It supports configuration, control, and updates via USB or Ethernet. The system is also compatible with ATEM Micro, 1 M/E, 2 M/E, and 4 M/E Advanced Panels, as well as ATEM Camera Control Panels. Cloud synchronization is supported via Blackmagic Cloud services.

Power and Environmental Specifications

The device operates on an external 12V DC power supply with a maximum power consumption of 120W. It functions within an operating temperature range of 5°C to 40°C (41°F to 104°F), with storage tolerance from -10°C to 60°C (14°F to 140°F). The system is designed for environments with 0–90% non-condensing relative humidity.
