Connections
The ATEM 2 M/E Constellation 4K features 20 total video inputs and 12 video outputs, supporting SDI rates of 1.5G, 3G, 6G, and 12G. For audio, it provides 2 balanced 1/4-inch jack inputs and 1 five-pin XLR talkback input, along with 1 five-pin XLR talkback output. Each SDI input supports 8 channels of embedded audio, while all SDI outputs deliver up to 16 channels of embedded audio. Additional connectivity includes tri-sync or black burst reference input, re-sync and format converters on all 20 inputs, and flexible SDI Aux outputs assignable to any of the 12 SDI outputs. The unit also includes a down-converted SDI program output and a USB-C webcam output supporting 720p or 1080p. For monitoring, there are 2 x 12G-SDI multiview outputs, supporting customizable layouts. Control is enabled via Ethernet, with USB-C for computer interfacing, software updates, and ATEM Setup Utility access.

Standards
The switcher supports a wide range of HD and Ultra HD formats including 720p (50, 59.94, 60), 1080i (50, 59.94, 60), and 1080p (23.98 up to 60 fps). For Ultra HD, it handles 2160p at frame rates from 23.98 up to 60. The system complies with SMPTE 292M, 296M, 424M, 425M (level A & B), 2081-1/10, and 2082-1/10 standards. Video sampling is 4:2:2 with 10-bit color precision, and supported color spaces include REC 709 and REC 2020. The SDI auto-switching feature automatically detects between 1.5G-SDI, 3G-SDI (A/B), 6G-SDI, and 12G-SDI.

Media Player
Two integrated media players support fill and key channels, with a still image capacity of up to 40 and clip storage for 2 videos at resolutions up to 2160p60. Clip lengths include 3200 frames in 720p HD, 1600 frames in 1080p HD, and 400 frames in 2160p UHD. Supported still formats include PNG, TGA, BMP, GIF, JPEG, and TIFF, while video clips can be stored as TGA sequences. Audio file support includes WAV, MP3, and AIFF.

Display and Processing
The front panel incorporates a built-in 2.2-inch LCD monitor, 22 LED buttons, 8 source buttons, transition controls, talkback selection, a menu control knob, and a panel lock button. Processing delay is less than 10 lines, ensuring near real-time switching performance.

Audio Mixer
An integrated 48-channel audio mixer provides selectable on/off/AFV modes, level and peak metering, and master gain control. Advanced processing includes a 6-band parametric EQ, dynamics control with expander, gate, compressor, and limiter functions, delivering professional-grade audio mixing within the switcher.

Software
The ATEM Software Control is included for both Mac (Sonoma 14.0, Sequoia 15.0 or later) and Windows (10 and 11). Updates and configuration are managed through USB or Ethernet connections, with the ATEM Setup Utility handling IP addressing and system setup.
