The ATEM 1 M/E Constellation 4K features 10 total video inputs and 6 video outputs, supporting SDI rates of 1.5G, 3G, 6G, and 12G. It provides 2 balanced 1/4-inch audio inputs along with a 5-pin XLR talkback input, and a 5-pin XLR talkback output. Embedded audio is supported with 8 channels on all SDI inputs and 16 channels on all SDI outputs. The switcher includes a Tri-Sync or Black Burst reference input, full video input re-sync on all 10 inputs, and frame rate plus format converters across all sources. All six SDI outputs can be configured as Aux, Preview, or Program outputs, with one down-converted SDI program output. Additionally, there is a USB-C webcam output supporting up to 1080p at program frame rate, a 12G-SDI multi-view output, and Ethernet control connectivity.

Standards

This switcher supports multiple formats, including HD standards (720p50, 720p59.94, 720p60, 1080i50, 1080i59.94, 1080i60, and progressive modes up to 1080p60) and Ultra HD standards (2160p23.98 through 2160p60). It is compliant with SMPTE 292M, 296M, 424M, 425M (A/B), 2081, and 2082 standards, with support for 4:2:2 10-bit video sampling in REC 709 and REC 2020 color spaces. Auto-switching between different SDI formats is fully supported.

Product Specifics

The ATEM 1 M/E Constellation 4K is equipped with 4 upstream keyers, 1 downstream keyer, and 4 advanced chroma keyers. It offers 1 DVE, 5 linear/luma keyers, and a transition keyer with both Stinger and DVE options. In total, the switcher supports 7 layers. There are 5 pattern generators and 2 color generators available. The control panel options include front fascia emergency switching, software, or optional hardware panels. Users can configure up to 16 routable windows with source labeling, tally (red for program and green for preview), and integrated talkback plus mix-minus support.

Multi-View Monitoring

The system provides a multi-view output configurable to 16, 13, 10, 7, or 4 up views, enabling monitoring of program, preview, inputs, media players, key masks, and clean feeds. Each window supports labels and audio meters, with display in HD or Ultra HD.

Media Players

There are 2 integrated media players, each offering fill and key channels. The media pool supports up to 20 still images, 2 clips up to 2160p60, and clip lengths of 1600 frames (720 HD), 800 frames (1080 HD), or 200 frames (2160 UHD). Supported still image formats include PNG, TGA, BMP, GIF, JPEG, and TIFF, while video sequences use TGA and audio formats include WAV, MP3, and AIFF.

Display and Processing

The front panel includes a 2.2-inch LCD monitor, 10 LED setup buttons, 4 source buttons, 6 talkback and mix buttons, a control knob, and lock button. Processing delay is less than 10 lines, ensuring ultra-low latency operation.

Audio Mixer

The built-in 28-channel audio mixer supports embedded, analog, and talkback inputs. It provides on/off and audio-follow-video selection, level and peak metering, master gain control, and advanced processing with 6-band parametric EQ, expander, gate, compressor, and limiter.

Software

The ATEM 1 M/E Constellation 4K includes the ATEM Software Control Panel for both Mac and Windows. Firmware updates and setup can be handled via USB or Ethernet, with IP address configuration done through the ATEM Setup Utility. Supported operating systems include macOS 14.0 Sonoma, macOS 15.0 Sequoia or later, and Windows 10/11.

Power and Installation

The unit is powered by an internal 100–240V AC supply, consuming 90W, and includes redundancy support. It is designed for rackmount installation, occupying 2/3 rack unit width and 1 rack unit height. Optional accessories such as the Teranex Mini Rack Shelf are available.

Environmental Specifications

The switcher operates reliably in temperatures between 0° to 40°C (32° to 104°F) and can be stored at -20° to 60°C (-4° to 140°F). It supports relative humidity levels up to 90% non-condensing.
